New Vollenhover bridge

A connection between two shores and an opening for sporadic giant transport. The bridge is a gate in two directions, between old and new land, city and shipyard. Visible from all sides, much bigger than its predecessor. Within this set of considerations, we have endeavoured to maximise the contrast between open and close. When closed it is impossible to comprehend how the bridge opens, the permanence of the connection is emphasized. The powerful and instantly recognizable superstructure renders the bridge an enigmatic profile, visible up close and further afield.
