A light and bright design, connecting the residential areas of Zaandam with the industrial area of the Achtersluispolder. The steel structure floats across the Zuidervaart canal and the Thorbeckeweg road with a sequence of supporting arches and clustered columns. The bridge appears to be tied to the earth, rather than supported. It looks as though it could fly away at any moment.
