The design of the important connection between the neighbourhoods Hoven and De Lanen, over the Centrale Plas, is an exercise in simplicity and detailing. The bridge is designed as transparent as possible: by using a minimum amount of vertical obstacles, a very thin deck and an abutment that is hidden in the slope. The deck of the bridge floats over both quays, so the passage for pedestrians under the bridge is also transparent and therefore socially safe. Besides, the bridge gives access to Optimist sailing boats with a standing mast. We are being inspired by the lines of these slender boats, what mainly comes back in the details of the side of the bridge deck.
